ITS ROUND UP TIME

We got up this morning and met our neighbor friends the Jenning Family. We met them down by the old post office and watched the Pendleton Round Up parade. This was a HUGE parade and lasted 1hr 50mins. I don't think I've ever seen a parade that long. Holy cow mamma! We saw lots of the locals. You think with a town this small that they wouldn't fill the streets and be on the streets in the parade. But sure enough, everyone and their dogs were there-No kidding. We had a good time though. It was warm with a little breeze. Good thing we took sunscreen for Zach. The Jenning Family has 7 boys (I think all of them were there except for the oldest-18). They each ended up with their plastic grocery bag 1/2 full with candy. I bet if they all combined their candy, they could pass it out for halloween and have enough...ha ha. Oh and they had the biggest Hermiston Watermelon I've ever seen, check it out!


We had a lot of fun. I put Zach back in his stroller after a little while to shade him a bit. The sirens scared him a little, but I think he liked watching all the kids, horses, floats and flying candy.

Grandma and Grandpa Osburn Visit

It's Labor Day Weekend and we are pleased as punch to have Grandma and Grandpa Osburn here to visit. They got here Saturday morning about 10. I was just rolling out of bed thanks to Kelly for getting up with Zach and letting the Mamma sleep in. Kelly say he likes getting up with Zach in the morning because he is such a happy baby. Kelly and Larry fixed a few things here in our little duplex and they organized the garage a little better. Later we went out to eat at our favorite Chinese restaurant for dinner. Yummo! Both of us split our meals up because they are so jinourmous! Larry and Elsie still had food to bring home. Sunday was nice, we all got naps in except for me-I don't nap so well. I tried out a new recipe from the Lawrence legacy submitted by Uncle Reed that was a Curry Chicken dish. It turned out ok. But I did burn a few of the veggies-oops. We watched a few movies over the weekend too. Monday night for family home evening, Larry and Elsie taught us how to play "Pinnocle". Boy oh boy! I couldn't keep up or catch on. It was fun to have them visit. They said they couldn't remember when they had laughed so much. Zach kept them entertained.

Gal Pals

So Wednesday I got a call from my visiting teacher. She kidnapped me and with Kelly watching Zach, she picked me up and took me to the movies. We saw Julie and Julia. Two true stories about Julia Child and Julie, a young girl that wanted to finally finish something she started for once in her life. She decided to cook her way through a cookbook making over 500 recipes in a year. What an undertaking! I guess not only to finish, but to go on later and write a book about her experience doing it. I'm not quite sure how long it had been since I went to the movies with a bunch of friends. There were about 8 gal-pals from the ward that joined in this little adventure. After the movie we hit the local 24hr Denny's just down the street from where we live. I wasn't even sure there was a theater here in this big city Pendleton. Sure enough.
