Wet Noodle

It has been fun to see Zach try out new things to taste. His expressions are priceless. At four months we started him on rice cereal. We have let him snack on apples, peaches, bananas, peas, carrots, sweet potato, and mango to name some. Now at six months he is snacking on lots of things, which his dad says is "expanding his palate". Grandma Po gave him a vanilla wafer when we visited. He loved it so much he has a box of his own in the cupboard. Sometimes he gets one of those cookies.

The latest has been his favorite I think. Dad bought a little bag of Cheetos. He loved gumming small pieces. One night this last week I had a bowl of ramen noodles because I was too tired and more likely-lazy to fix a good meal. I thought I would let Zach take a taste of this oh so thin noodle that can be slurped right up before your eyes if you watch closely.

Look at me I can crawl!

Zachary has learned how to crawl. He started a few weeks ago in his crib rocking back and forth on both knees after mastering how to sit up. Before taking the giant leaps forward he would get himself up on all fours, wait for a few seconds and then sit back up. His hind end would only move to the left. So after several times of doing this, he had been in circles a few times. What was so cute was when he got himself up against a wall to the left of him, he would fuss and get frustrated because he couldn't move any further. That sent mom or dad to the rescue putting him back in the middle of the toy pile for more circles. Here is a clip of Zachary headed towards his John Deer toy book. Yay!

Mommy day care

So I have been watching this little 4 month old baby Penelope. She's cute and a red head too. I haven't quite decided if this is going to work or not. One minute Zach is crying and the next she is. AND when she does cry watch out, she has some lungs on her. Zach is friendly with her, but he frightens her as he gets excited about her being here and telling her in his own language that he wants her to play with him. I'm going to stick it out at least another week before I give up (for all parties involved). It's has been a challenge to say the least.

Six months old and counting....

Zachary had his six month visit to doctor Elsa Lee. She said he looked healthy and everything she seemed concerned about the first few months seemed to be resolved. He weighed in at 16lbs. 15oz. and 26 in. long. Zach had to get shots this time too. It didn't seem to bother him that much, he pulled his band-aids off within a couple of hours. He's a tough little man!

We were able to visit with family. My mom set up a pack and play in the guest bedroom where we stayed. It was fun to see grandparents again. I snapped a shot of Grandpa Pocock (Steve) and Zach playing together on the floor. Every time a flash goes off though, he's like 'what?' 'what just happened there?'. It was also my sister Melanie's 17th birthday...we got to eat yummy brownies. We did some shopping to stock up on some diapers thanks to Sophia a good friend I met at Boise State. She got us a gift card a while back and we are just getting around to using it on diapers for two reasons. First, we've had enough to last us from the baby shower and second, we don't have a Fred Meyer in Pendleton. There were so many things that we wanted to do but weren't able to before we had to go back.

ON the other hand we had some special time with Grandma Pocock. I captured some excellent footage of her singing to Zachary while were there. This is just one of them that I hope you enjoy as much as much as I have.
